Privacy policy
Last updated: 2026. The short version: I collect what I need to quote you, and I never sell it.
⚠ Draft: needs legal review. This is a starting template, not legal advice. Have an attorney review and complete it for your business, the provinces you sell in, and the CRM and analytics tools you actually use. Then delete this banner.
Who this covers
This policy describes how The Warranty Chick ("I", "me") handles information collected through this website. It does not cover the separate privacy practices of any vehicle service contract administrator, insurer, or payment processor you may later do business with. Those companies publish their own policies.
What I collect
Only what you give me and the minimum a website needs to work:
- Information you submit: your name, phone number, email address, and optionally a company name, plus the consent checkbox state and the time you submitted it.
- Basic technical data: the page you submitted from, the referring website, and any campaign tags (UTM parameters) in the link you arrived through. This tells me where enquiries come from.
- Nothing else. I don't ask for your Social Security number, driver's license, bank details, or payment card information through this website. If a page ever asks you for those, it isn't mine.
How I use it
- To contact you about the quote or question you submitted.
- To prepare accurate coverage options for your specific vehicle.
- To keep a record of the consent you gave and when you gave it.
- To understand which marketing actually works, in aggregate.
What I will never do
I do not sell, rent, or trade your information to lead brokers, marketing companies, or anyone else. A large part of why unwanted warranty calls exist at all is that many sites in this industry resell every detail typed into them. This one does not, and never will.
Who I share it with
Your information is shared only where it's necessary to do the thing you asked for:
- Service providers that help run this business, such as the customer relationship system where enquiries are stored, and the hosting provider that serves this site. They act on my instructions and may not use your data for their own purposes.
- A contract administrator or provider, but only if you choose to move forward with coverage, and only what's needed to issue it.
- Where the law requires it: a valid legal request, or to protect against fraud or abuse.
Calls, texts and emails
By submitting the form and checking the consent box, you agree that I may contact you by phone, text message, or email about vehicle protection. Message and data rates may apply. Consent is not a condition of purchase. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to a text, using the unsubscribe link in an email, or simply telling me to stop.
Cookies and analytics
This site does not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels. Campaign tags from a link you clicked are held in your browser's session storage so that the enquiry can be attributed correctly, and they're cleared when you close the tab. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address as part of serving that request.
How long I keep it
Enquiries are kept for as long as needed to serve you and to meet record-keeping obligations, including proof of the consent you gave. You can ask me to delete your information at any time.
Your choices
You can ask me to show you what I hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop contacting you. In Canada these rights come from the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and some provinces add further rights under their own privacy laws, including Quebec, Alberta and British Columbia. To exercise any of these, email hello@warrantychick.ca and I'll take care of it. If you aren't satisfied with how I handle your request, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Security
This site is served over HTTPS and enquiries are transmitted encrypted. No system is perfectly secure, but your information is only ever handled by systems I control or by the service providers described above.
Children
This site is intended for adults. I don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date at the top.
